Phony Rush Limbaugh Racist Quotes Retracted: The Damage Is Done

Now that Rush Limbaugh is no longer a dangerous threat to the NFL, the liars and those willing to perpetrate the lie are going to begin to retract and apologize for saying the things about Limbaugh that caused Roger Goodell and others to bow to the PC police. They accomplished their mission so now it’s okay to admit that quotes were not sourced, that words which would have been harmful if uttered were never spoken by Limbaugh.

Rush Limbaugh

As Allahpundit at Hot Air points out, Rick Sanchez of CNN and the Huffington Post have sort of apologized for their part in the Limbaugh NFL fiasco. Why not? The damage is done, so now cover your tracks so that you can’t be sued for libel.

Here’s what big shot Rick Sanchez said on Twitter:

i’ve know rush. in person,i like him. his rhetoric, however is inexcusably divisive. he’s right tho. we didn’t confirm quote. our bad.

You can see what I wrote about that quote here. Our bad. That’s what the entire media apparatus should be saying for their role in electing Barack Obama. Our bad. I didn’t even know people still said that. Whatever, Rick Sanchez is a jackass.

The Huffington Post apology isn’t really an apology or a retraction. The editor’s simply pull the misquotes because in their words the author of the story was given 24 hours to substantiate the quotes and he failed to do so. They never admitted that the quotes weren’t true, they just said the author didn’t source the quote so they pulled it.

It is pretty scary that the liberal media and race baiters can get together, defame a person based solely on their political leanings or ideology, accomplish their goal and get away with it by simply “apologizing” after the fact.

You know, my parents never let me get away with doing something wrong just because I apologized for it, these people shouldn’t get away with it either.

Yes we will listen to twitter happy fools that quote mediamatters.
THEY are SOOOOOOOOO legit. You crybaby libs with your made
up facts…FACT: A caller(woman) commented that her little daughter
saw Obama for 1st time and said he looked like Curious George. And
hate to break it to you PC peeps, he does. Not because he is black,
but because he does. Same as wrestler John Cena looks like a monkey
and he’s white, Arnold looks like a caveman and he’s white, Dolph
Lungren looks like an ape and he’s white, Rosie O’donell looks like the
dumb ape of Jungle Book and she’s white, that actress off of Smallville
looks like a monkey when her hair is tied back and she’s white, come on
now…Least be honest. Scrawny actresses that look like twigs that are
dying, tell me you don’t wanna force feed them a burrito?? A guy that looks
almost identical to Obama who starred in “Since You’ve Been Gone(1998)”
DOESN’T look like one, but still looks like Obama. Can’t explain it. Nancy
Pelosi is a car wreck, as is John McCain. Least I am honest. Don Imus
looks like he’s already dead, just animated and propped up.

Free Speech is what libs cry when one of them says Bush should die. Free
speech is ignored by libs when a Conservative tells the truth about them.
Get the diff? Remember Duke LaCrosse? Whoooops, libs wanna forget that
as I am sure does Jesse Jackson. Anyone of them crybaby libs apologize??
    Of course not.

Yer all a bunch of punks and what is crappier is you are dumb on purpose.

    Hello SoCalGal,

Those were some well thought out remarks so I’d like to respond. Hopefully in a way that is as well thought out because I really am trying to work through this issue. Please bear with me as what I have to say is lengthy but hopefully not long winded.

I was initially curious to see if I could verify that disputed slavery quote one way or another. It appeared to me that everybody everywhere was (again) talking about things that had been “attributed” after the fact. It all seemed to me to be a “he said/she said” kind of thing. After a couple of hours of looking for it, I couldn’t come up with one single audio clip that backed up the slavery remark, so as far as I’m concerned that didn’t happen. If it did, somebody would have come up with the clip. Period.

    HOWEVER…

I did find 28 audio clips at the link I published earlier and I listened to all of them. It took me more than an hour. Some of them are seven minutes long and some of them are less than a minute. I mention all this because I wanted to be clear that I didn’t listen to somebody else telling me what Mr. Limbaugh said, I listened to what he actually said in all those 28 clips and based my opinion on the total content.

For purposes of clarity I’m reprinting the link: http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/200909150017

In the third clip on this list entitled: “In Obama’s America, the white kids now get beat up with the black kids cheering.” The clip is only two minutes long and I believe he really is throwing about some racially charged remarks here. Again, I’m not saying he’s racist, but I am saying he’s doing it on purpose because it helps his show to say those kinds of things. (He even mimics the way a black person would say, “Right on, right on, right on.” This to me is the equivalent of wearing black face in a vaudeville show, or fingernails on a blackboard. Take your pick.)

In the sixth quote on the list entitled “Halfrican-American” he seems to be attempting to make a joke by referring to Halley Berry and Barrack Obama as “Halfrican-Americans”. The best that can be said about this joke is that I thought it was in poor taste. I suppose you’re going to get that sort of thing anywhere these days.

In the seventh quote on the list entitled “Obama has disowned his white half…” He again chooses to take up the issue of Obama’s race. Now this is a five minute clip in which he says things like “I’m going to say something that might make people uncomfortable…” And then later, “Obama is telling us he is a black American first and an American second.” And after that, “It is clear that Obama has disowned his white half, that he’s decided he’s got to go all in on the black side.” Again, I feel that this is fairly obvious race baiting. I honestly don’t see why this “analysis” is relevant to anyone that hasn’t got some sort of racial ax to grind. Nothing about this topic is going to affect the price of tomatoes in the supermarket tomorrow, so why should I care?

Again, I’m listening to the audio clips themselves and not reading the transcripts. Mr. Limbaugh chooses his own topics. He also decides what to say about them. On March 21 of last year, that was the topic he chose to speak about. Heck, Obama wasn’t even President then.

I’m only up to the seventh out of 28 quotes but the pattern is clear after giving them all a full listen. I’ll restate my thesis: The guy is in it for the money and saying “provocative” things like this is good for business. If you’re going to say “provocative” things involving race, then some people are going to take offense to it regardless of their politics. The organization he was trying to join is one of the most racially diverse organizations in America. Saying a lot of “provocative” things on the topic of race isn’t going to win you many friends in professional sports organizations. Ipso facto therefore etcetera.

By the way, on a completely different topic, I’d like to respectfully assert that there was one fact incorrect in what you printed earlier. The Fox News article located here: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/14/senate-votes-cut-acorn-housing-funding/ quotes Senator Mike Johanns, R- Nebraska as saying that Acorn, “…has received $53 million in taxpayer funds since 1994 and that the group was eligible for a wider set of funding in the pending legislation, which funds housing and transportation programs.”

I’m not sure where the figure $8 billion came from, but I’d be interested in finding the source (or the source’s source). By my math, we’ve been giving ACORN a whopping $3.5 million a year since 1994 which only represents a portion of it’s total funding. I’d be willing to wager you a chicken dinner that the amount of taxpayer money we’ve been providing Acorn is much less than the total cost of the newsprint and air time expended in the last year to inform us that our money is being horridly misspent.

Frankly I’ve now spent the last thirty minutes trying to find ANYTHING that says what the annual budget of Acorn is. I’ve got figures quoted anywhere from $20 million to $100 million, but however you slice it we’re a far cry from $8 billion. I found it ridiculous that Acorn doesn’t publish a single thing about their annual budget on their website. At this point I don’t know who to believe about Acorn and money. But I do believe its small potatoes in the big picture. Just another distraction from issues that need real pressing.

I totally agree with you that we need to challenge our government. I don’t trust a one of them to keep my interests or liberty in mind. That being said, I’d be willing to borrow from President Regan and “trust but verify!”

Thanks again for your well thought out remarks.

  3. Jerry R. says:

Hello Kevin, I would like to clear up some of the audio snippets you have gathered from Rush’s program and explain something to you. Unless you listen to his show regularly, you have no idea how to frame his remarks. Many liberals like Sharpton and Jackson do this often. In response to your quotes quoted, you have to treat Rush as a regular continuing program, not as a collection of sound bites. When he says that Obama’s world is one where black students beat up white students, he is making fun of Obama’s new America, where his “hope and change” garbage promises racial and economic harmony. In fact, there has been more devisiveness since he was elected than in any other time in our history (except for maybe the Civil War and Civil Rights eras). When he refers to his abandonment of his white half he is referring to the fact that he is a hypocrit when it comes to race. He panders to black leaders and listens to black race baiters like Jeremiah Wright. He should remember that he has a white mother and should treat whites as fairly as he treats blacks. It’s just a lesson in human compassion. Truth be told, he does put more emphasis on being an African-American than on being an American, and I think many people are getting fed up with this way of thinking. When he says “right on right on” I don’t think that that’s necessarily a derogatory thing. I’ve heard many white people say the same thing in the same fashion. It’s too trivial to make a stink over. The guy has many black friends who really admire him. He is not a racist. He constantly points out the fact that he wants everyone in this country to do well. You also have to remember that his comments have to be taken in the context of one big radio “script.” He is a radio personality who has been on the air for 30 years, and he has to be taken as a whole, not as a series of clips.

  4. Greg Zotta says:

Thanks Rick, for somewhat admitting that you LIE, regarding Rush Limbaugh & after the damage is done you apologize for it. This coming from a so-called news organization that fact checks a skit from SNL a comedy show. But NO CNN is not BIASED in ANYWAY. The Whitehouse has banned Fox (enemies list) claiming they are not really a news organization, yet it was Fox that broke the stories on ACORN & the radical Czars in the Whitehouse. Obama states he was going to be transparent but doesn’t know the meaning of the word. Now there’s talk about bailouts for the newspapers. What kind of UNBIASED reporting the papers will give when the Government will be cutting the checks? Bad Idea!!

  5. Greg Zotta says:

Rush isn’t a racist. But libs. like to call people racists to stifle the discussion on the real problems. Blacks are approximately 12% of the population, yet they commit a disproportionate amount of the crime. Then you have the race hustlers Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, who extort money from US corporations and do nothing to improve race relations in America. Now, if you are white and oppose Obama’s marxist’s/socialist policies you are called a racist. So, if you are white you might as well admit that you are a racist and then make your legitimate point about Obama’s policies or race relations in America.

  6. Greg Zotta says:

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson said Rush Limbaugh should not be involved in getting the Rams because he is divisive and incendiary. TALK ABOUT THE POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK. These two race hustling extortionists are nothing but divisive. This was an all out affront by the libs against Rush Limbaugh because of his political views. Roger Goodell said Rush’s comments about McNab were divisive and would not be tolerated by the NFL. His statements about McNab were true; the media were pumping him up like they do with Obama. Dave Checketts (CHICKENSxxT) could not take the heat and dropped Rush from the deal. Goodell has a self-righteous attitude about the NFL, but I remember how the NFL treated and screwed over Jerry Clinton when he tried to get a team for St. Louis. Jerry Clinton did everything he was supposed to do, but he was lied to and did not get the team.
