Benito Mussolini’s Brain Stolen For Sale On Ebay
The infamous fascist dictator Benito Mussolini’s brain was stolen along with vials of his blood to sell on Ebay. The listing was asking $22,000 dollars for the dictators remains; Ebay removed the listing within hours saying that it violated regulations (Ebay doesn’t allow the sale of human matter on its site). The granddaughter of Mussolini, Alessandra, had reported the items stolen.
At the end of World War II, Benito Mussolini was killed by an anti-fascist group and his body was hung on display in Milan. Shortly afterwards, his body was taken to a hospital for autopsy; the doctors said that the samples taken during the autopsy were destroyed in 1947.
Whether the items stolen were the actual brain and blood of Benito Mussolini is beside the point. The fact remains that someone actually stole what they believed to be Benito Mussolini’s brain and blood and then listed it on Ebay to sell. I believe in capitalism but this is a little ridiculous.
Thankfully Ebay removed the listing before anyone had a chance to bid on the grisly items. Italian police are investigating the report of the stolen brain of Benito Mussolini. What a world.
